Dog Suffers Severe Injury During Grooming Appointment
A Fort Lauderdale man, Russ Horowitz, reported that his 5-year-old Yorkie-poo, Charlie, sustained a serious injury during a mobile grooming session, leading to both a veterinary emergency and a police investigation. Horowitz, who usually grooms Charlie himself, opted for a grooming service due to a promotional offer. After the appointment, he noticed a significant laceration on Charlie?s abdomen, which appeared to have been cauterized without his consent. Despite contacting the grooming company, they denied any wrongdoing, asserting that they did not injure the dog. Concerned for Charlie?s well-being, Horowitz took him to a veterinary hospital, where he was treated for the wound, incurring over $700 in medical expenses. The situation escalated when Horowitz filed a police report regarding potential animal cruelty, as the groomer had not informed him about the injury or sought permission for treatment. The grooming business owner claimed that the injury predated the appointment, prompting Horowitz to caution others about who they trust with their pets.
